Laura Bush Shares Sweet Message After Melania’s Thoughtful WH Invitation Touched the Mourning Family

As the Bush family, along with Americans across the nation, continued to mourn the loss of the 41st president, the U.S. first lady sent out a loving invitation to former President George W. Bush and former U.S. first lady Laura Bush and several other members of the family to the White House.

The former first lady showed unity with Melania Trump as she thanked her for her “sweet visit” at the White House just a day before the funeral of George H.W. Bush. The two couples both met later that day when the Trumps visited the Bushes at the Blair House.

Along with George and Laura Bush, the Bush children and grandchildren were given a tour of the beautiful, patriotic White House Christmas decorations Melania designed, which has the theme of “American Treasures,” Melania’s spokesperson Stephanie Grisham said.

Bush recalled the “sweet visit during this somber week” in her post thanking the current first lady for opening up the doors of the White House for a private tour to see their old friends and staff, look at the Christmas decorations Trump designed, and capture a heartwarming photo of the family.

“Thanks to Mrs. Trump for inviting our family to the White House to see the Christmas decorations and our old friends, the residence staff.”

The photo of the Bush family at the White House shows them standing in front of a portrait of their loved one, the 41st president of the United States, that has a black drape across the top.

After the passing of the 41st president, President Trump honored H.W. Bush with a touching statement about H.W. Bush’s “essential authenticity, disarming wit, and unwavering commitment to faith, family, and country.”

“His example lives on, and will continue to stir future Americans to pursue a greater cause.”

The current president, accompanied by the first lady, crossed his heart and saluted the casket of H.W. Bush as he laid in state in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda earlier this week.
