On Saturday, hundreds of thousands of people around the country gathered to participate in the “March for Our Lives” event in an effort to raise awareness for gun violence and push for increased gun control.
The event was led by some of the students who survived the tragic Parkland shooting and have become some of the most outspoken gun control activists since.
Thousands of people gathered outside the Statehouse, but eventually moved inside due to weather. There were plenty of signs aimed at “change” and increased gun control.

However, there was one man who stood out among the rest, and it was because he brought his own AR-15 to the rally.
Beth Maier, a professional photographer, explained that she was at the rally when she was shocked to see a man carrying a rifle on his shoulder. She documented the event and posted pictures on her Facebook page, which have since gone viral.
Here are some of the comments on the post:
This is a sickness. The people who carry guns, and can’t see what Trump, the NRA, and media outlets like fox and Info wars are really doing, are the very same people who would probably not pass a mental health evaluation that would allow them to own a gun. Inside, they already know this about themselves.
The guy with the gun is just an absolute f**king c**t I wish I knew his name
What a disgusting human being.
Big fat f**k with a rifle couldn’t jog to that tree without stroking out. Yeah, he’s gonna defend America against school kids. The same kids getting murdered every month cause of people just like him and his mindset
On the event’s website, it states that one of their goals is to influence elected officials:
Passing a law to ban the sale of assault weapons like the ones used in Las Vegas, Orlando, Sutherland Springs, Aurora, Sandy Hook and, most recently, to kill 17 innocent people and injure more than a dozen others at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
Of the 10 deadliest shootings over the last decade, seven involved the use of assault weapons.
No civilian should be able to access these weapons of war, which should be restricted for use by our military and law enforcement only. These guns have no other purpose than to fire as many bullets as possible and indiscriminately kill anything they are pointed at with terrifying speed.
It is estimated that over 200,000 people attended the March for Our Lives in Washington, D.C., alone.
