Hillary Clinton may have found her match in a longtime fan and supporter, Hollywood actress Jessica Biel.
As it now turns out, Biel is facing a lawsuit claiming she stole $430,100 in tips from employees at a kid’s restaurant where she is the co-owner.
Au Fudge restaurant’s owners, including Biel and others, are facing accusations of stealing around half a million dollars in tips, while also doing the same with “missed rest breaks” from their employees. The latter brought them staggering $31,459.
Biel is being used alongside her parents by nine staffers, current and former, for $1 million in punitive damages, reports explain. The restaurant’s main income comes from hosting glamorous parties, costing customers 22% gratuity in advance.
The tips, amounting to $430,1000 have gone straight to Biel’s and other five partners’ pockets, instead of being shared with servants, as practice goes.
“Each of the plaintiffs had their gratuities wrongfully converted and were improperly denied meal and rest breaks, overtime compensation, and earned wages under various illegal payroll practices,” the lawsuit filed in a Los Angeles Superior Court states.
Defendants charged hundreds of thousands of dollars in gratuities to private-party customers and converted said gratuities to themselves in order to pad their own pockets and deprive plaintiffs their just compensation in violation of law.
Plaintiffs were told they were entitled to receive compensatory gratuities directly from customers, including those customers who booked large private parties or events (such as Amazon, Netflix and Fox Studios), the complaint further adds.
Former Au Fudge event Director, Alexandra Desage, noted that customers were persuaded to believe tips were intended for the employees, while the owners were getting richer instead.
This was the popular opinion, due to the fact that 22% of the tipping was charged in advance.
As Desage stated, once she broke the news to one of her managers, the manager dismissed her at once.
Jessica Biel hasn’t made any comments on the matter thus far. In 2016, Biel alongside her husband, Justin Timberlake, were hosts of a $33,400-per-ticket fundraiser to help their idol, Hillary Clinton, get elected president. Well, that was all flushed down the drain, as we are already aware.
The event, however, raised $3.34 million, all of which seemed useless as Hillary lost by a landslide to Donald Trump.
Hollywood celebrities have a longtime practice of calling Trump a fraud, while they have been up to no good, and that’s an understatement. Another actress who had a mouthful to say about Trump, and not in a good way is Alyssa Milano, who spoke against the POTUS on various occasions.
Milano even went as far as to ‘joke’ she didn’t pay her taxes and took advantage of her employees. Therefore, she also faced a lawsuit back in July.
Joining her in the Trump hate parade was actor George Clooney who urged Europe to take as many Muslim refugees as possible, while he and his family made a safe return to the States shortly after. It seems as though the Britain terror scene did not sit well with Clooney after all.
Aside from this, we have the NFL, where multiple players who showed disrespect for the national anthem, with most of the focus falling onto now-jobless quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
Colin Kaepernick seemed like he didn’t have a care in the world, even refusing to vote in the 2016 elections, despite the heavy criticism he received as a response to his doings.
