Hollywood decided to set aside their indifference with President Trump and his policies for the time being and focus on helping the victims affected by the Hurricane Harvey floods that hit Texas this past week.
Anyone from actor Kevin Hart to pop group Lady Antebellum have joined in the humanitarian actions, but when a $1 million check landed at the Red Cross, America gasped.
Actress Sandra Bullock is a well-known philanthropist, thus she decided to contribute in a very powerful and beyond meaningful way. Aside from her kind soul, she spoke about the reason behind her decision to donate that amount of money:
“I’m just grateful I can do it. We all have to do our part.
There are no politics in eight feet of water. There are human beings in eight feet of water.”
Bullock has long collaborated with the Red Cross, making regular donations if needed.
Elizabeth Penniman, Vice President of Communications for American Red Cross spoke of Bullock’s precious gift:
“This is an incredible gift. We’re so thankful. It’s times like this when we do receive such an incredible amount of support. Especially during times of disaster, people see what’s happening in Texas and our hearts all go out to them. Having someone like Sandra Bullock make this kind of commitment, it helps bring people together and open their hearts and be even more generous.”
Everyone can help, people, so let’s think of all ways in which we can facilitate the life of those affected by this horrendous occurrence.
