During an interview on Fox News, “angel mom” Mary Ann Mendoza spoke out in support of border security.
Mendoza’s police officer son was killed by an illegal immigrant who was driving drunk in 2014, and she is a strong supporter of border security. However, she attempted to reach out to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) in order to have a conversation.
“It’s almost to the point where there’s nothing more to say to Nancy Pelosi,” Mendoza said. “I, myself, and several other angel moms have reached out to her on numerous occasions when we’ve been in D.C. to meet. And with the Women’s March going on and stuff, I find it ironic that it’s angel moms that Nancy Pelosi refuses to meet with.”
She also spoke out in support of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients, saying that it is an important issue, too:
“In any negotiation, there’s going to be give and take, and just like everybody says the liberals can’t have everything they want — well, the conservatives should know that, too. I’m speaking on my beliefs as an angel mom that I understand these DACA children were brought here unknowingly. There needs to be some DACA reform, though, because there are illegal alien criminals within that DACA program.”

While Pelosi has been supportive of immigrants, Mendoza said it is important to remember what some American families go through.
“There’s so much compassion in her voice when she talks about the children who were separated from their parents at the border for 20 days,” Mendoza said. “But she will never mention our children, and what’s really sad to me is it’s angel families who are out there fighting this fight. Some of us […] they have barely buried their son and yet they’re out fighting for their fellow Americans.”
