On Tuesday, a member of President Donald Trump’s Diversity Council has filed a resignation, after noting Trump would be an utter “liar” if he made the final decision to shut down the DACA program, implemented by Obama.
Hispanic Javier Palomarez, President, and CEO of the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce submitted his resignation as a response to Jeff Sessions’s announcement about possibly repealing the DACA program. At the same time, Congress was given a due date of six months to think of a suitable replacement for the project.
The program enables illegal aliens who do not have proper or valid paperwork to remain in America under working visas, in case they have come to the States since childhood. The work permit lasts for two years.
“I tried to work as hard as I could with this administration on this issue. And I continue to want to work with them on other issues like tax reform, like health care reform, and so many other important things, but I really don’t see the logic in doing what we’re doing right now. This didn’t have to happen,” he said.
Palomarez gave an interview for CNN, stating he tried to persuade Trump to do “the right thing by these 800,000 Dreamers who reside in this country.”
Jim Acosta didn’t waste time reading pro-Dreamers comments on the show.
“In your view, if he gets rid of DACA, is he showing great heart and is he showing that he loves these kids?” Acosta asked.
“If he’s getting rid of DACA, he’s showing that he is a liar. He has said he’s going to try to protect the people in the DACA program, that he was focused on getting rid of criminals. We certainly support that piece of his thinking,” Palomarez replied.
“We’re dealing with a President that gave his word, that promised that he would take care of these 800,000 young people,” he said.
DACA was subjected to numerous lawsuits that could, as agreed earlier, bring closure to the program for good, especially if the case proceeds to trial.
“Donald Trump has run a campaign of the divisiveness of hate-filled rhetoric that has torn people apart, torn this nation apart,” Palomarez, a strong supporter of Hillary Clinton’s, stated earlier. “He has proven himself to be unworthy and unfit for the highest office of this land.”
Although no certain decision was earlier made in regards to the DACA program, liberals are already planning a boycott.
