Democrats fall among the most conniving group of politicians America has ever come across. I mean, the extents to which they go just to get their way is simply out of this world.
The Washington Examiner now released a report, stating Democrat Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal commented how President Donald Trump is colluding not with Russia, as some would thus far speculate, but with China as well.
Blumenthal explained that a Chinese bank that rents an office at the Trump Tower in New York is doing so illegally since there is no permission from Congress on it. This, as he states, could ultimately hurt Trump’s political image.
“To be really blunt, an arm of the Chinese government is paying President Trump’s rent for his building, and last year as you all know China granted President Trump 40 trademarks,” the Connecticut Democrat stated via a conference call.
“These approvals of trademarks closely followed the president’s abrupt decision as president to honor the One-China Policy, a reversal of his earlier position,” he said. “Shortly after receiving those trademark registrations, President Trump flip-flopped on labeling China a currency manipulator.”
“As he travels to China, we’re left wondering, Americans are left wondering if President Trump is representing American interests or his own, and which he’s going to put first,” he said.
Blumenthal has been very outspoken about how Trump is violating the Foreign Emoluments Clause and doesn’t have the Congress’ approval to have foreign-government tenants. Aside from the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, the Trump Tower also rents space to the Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority.
Blumenthal encouraged over two hundred Democratic lawmakers to sign his lawsuit against Trump, which says “no person holding any office of profit or trust under them, shall, without the consent of the Congress, accept of any present, emolument, office, or title, of any kind whatever, from any king, prince, or foreign state.”
Cornell law professor and conservative blogger William Jacobson explained how, “In a rational world, this lawsuit would have zero chance of success,” while former House of Representatives senior legal counsel Michael Stern said Blumenthal’s narrative is quite general, asking, “If it is that easy to receive an ’emolument,’ how is it that this issue has never come up before?”
Blumenthal may have put himself under fire, as People’s Daily newspaper is, interestingly enough, a tenant in the Empire State Building, managed by none else but Blumenthal’s wife.
He even tried justifying this by saying that he and not his wife own parts of the shares.
Then, it became obvious the conference call wasn’t going to end well. Namely, Blumenthal dropped the call before he would get into the Q&A section of the matter.
A moderator on the Constitutional Accountability Center call was not willing to let experts analyze if Blumenthal is a violator of the rule himself.
“The focus of this call is on the president and the lawsuit against him for his patent violations of the Foreign Emoluments Clause,” the moderator said.
If this doesn’t scream liberal nonsense to you, then I don’t know what will.
